THE LISTENING ROOM
The Listening Room has been a long time pipe dream of owner, Giovanina Bucci. Born out of a desire to hold space for a diverse catalog of singers/songwriters/performers to share original music in an intimate setting, The Listening Room launched in April 2024. Capped at a 25-member audience, the hope is to bring people together to enjoy the talents, stories, and nuance of a small-room performance. It is a celebration of the music, words and musicians who've dared to share a glimpse of themselves in deeply personal ways, to a safe and supportive community of listeners. Performers receive 100% of ticket sales in addition to 10% of any original art sold.
2.22.25 EMMA COOK & KATY HELLMAN 730pm
EMMA COOK
With thoughtful lyrics and upbeat grooves, Emma Cook writes from the heart. A “formidable songwriter and instrumentalist” she has a commanding and expressive vocal range that might remind you of Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, or Brandi Carlile [Seven Days VT].
Her music marks a moment; she’s singing about spice racks, moon phases, and every feeling in between. While rooted in the folk tradition, Emma's been awash in pop and rock n' roll since she was old enough to work her the cassette player, and it shows.
With powerful presence, her vulnerability, compassion, and humor onstage reflect her delightfully melancholy experience of being human. And as they say, Emma Cook is an open book.
She's played hundreds of shows, on festival stages, off the grid, on trailers in fields, and you've maybe seen her at a dive bar in New England or the Midwest with her now defunct folk-funk backing band Questionable Company. Playing with Q Co. “leveraged Emma’s incomparably smooth vocals to create something that sounded close to magic” [The Deli Magazine].
Performing since 2007, Emma continues to hone her craft and open her heart. She’s currently in the studio working on her first solo record since 2011.
